Here is Orla’s birth story by Hazel [Crafty n Clothy] some of you may have been following her Pregnancy Diary of a WAHM in the magazine!
Contractions started at 9pm on Friday 7th August. They were just like backache and I wasn’t really sure they were contractions at first. I realised they were coming every 10 minutes so called Michelle to let her know and Alan started filling the pool (but he made it too cool). A bit later I went to the loo but going up the stairs made me have two stronger contractions very close together. Having a bit of a panic that it might all be about to take off very quickly we phoned Michelle and she said she’d make her way over. Erin then decided to wake up and refuse to go back to sleep. I started worrying I’d called Michelle too early and the contractions pretty much stopped. Michelle arrived just before midnight. Read more…..
Here is NitNacs TWIN birth story!
I shall start back at almost the beginning. We found out that we were having twins
at the 12 week scan on 30th September 2005, and have to say it was a bit of a shock. There is no history of twins in our families at all. We had a bit of a panic about them not fitting in our car or house and not having two of anything, but all problems were surmountable. I think that it took a week to get used to the idea, but then I started to get excited about the prospect.
My ante-natal care was seriously lacking until 28 weeks when I started getting regular scans at the hospital, which was nice. Though at that scan they were a lot bigger than they should have been and I had visions of having two 10lb babies! Read more….

4am
got out of bed and went down stairs to bounce on my birthing ball. pains not any closer together but stronger. feeling alot of pressure on my back passage during the pains. Read more….
Kims account of Eliza Maes birth.
On the Wednesday evening I had a brief period cramping sensation, it didn’t last 5 minutes and I thought nothing of it, I didn’t even consider that I could be in labour! I was woken up at 9am on Thursday morning with the same feeling, this time coming in regular waves, and thought that maybe something could be starting to happen. Although, having heard so many time that 1st babies are usually late, and being 4 days before my due date, I still didn’t get excited that this was it! I had what I thought might be a show not long after getting up, and after asking the question on here and seeing the replies, I was pretty convinved that things were starting. Read more…
LeLapinNoir tell us about Robyns birth.
I woke up at 3.30am on Friday 8th December 2006 to a nice big puddle in my bed! Went to the toilet just to make sure and knew it was my waters. Told Lee and we excitedly went to the hospital.
I had all the internal probing and heartbeat monitor strapped round my belly for a while… Was definately in labour but wasn’t going very fast or strong so was told to go home and come back when things got going. If by Sat morning things were the same then i’d have to be induced.
Spent Friday bouncing around on my gym ball…pacing round the house and sniffing Clary Sage and had a bath. My niece and nephew and SIL spent the day with us. Was a lovely relaxed chatty day. Read more…
Cecily recounts Sebs birth.
I woke at 2.30am on Saturday morning, with contractions. I had been having them on and off for about 3 weeks, but those ones were just gearing up for the big day,
these ones felt more like the real thing.
So I got up and posted on various forums that this was it, I was starting!
I cleaned and tidied as much as I could, and prepared the birth room. I bounced on my ball for a bit, and watched some TV, and paced the room a LOT through the contractions until I could vacuum without bothering the neighbours. It’s amazing how CRAP the TV is at that time in the morning! Read more…
LittleBrownFrog with Rose’s birth story.
We had an awful December
Edward and I were both poorly for the whole month, we had some evil mutating virus that just wouldn’t let go. On December 30th I was really unwell – hadn’t been able to keep any fluid down apart from a tiny glass with some soluble paracetamol in that I drank over the course of an hour, willing it to stay in my stomach. I spent most of the day in bed, didn’t have any choice really, every thing ached, I was vomiting every time I moved too quickly. I was really worried that this would be the end of my home birth plans – baby was ‘due’ on the 30th, and I was terrified that I would go into labour & end up in hospital on a drip & that it would all go ‘wrong’.
