Demographics and Interesting Info!

Submitted by on March 24, 2010 – 3:43 pmNo Comment

People are always asking us for demographics… there seems to be an obsession about them. Now ‘certain’ natal packs might feel it is their business to know how old their members are, where they work and how much they earn but we feel that is an intrusion… plus unlike ‘certain’ natal packs we don’t sell on members information…. So when you grab a Mama Pack you won’t suddenly get spam mail through the door for fifty thousand other ‘baby’ related businesses… Isn’t that good!?
So as far as demographics go we do know our members are mostly female, the age range is from the youngest Mama we know of who was 17 to the maturest Mama we know of who is 63!
Parity ranges from TTC [Trying To Conceive] to Mamas with 13 [yes you read it right] children.
Employment is mainly SAHM/WAHM [Stay/Work At Home Mothers] although we have government workers, Midwives, Police officers, child minders, supermarket staff, Teachers… well all sorts… again it’s non of our business is it?
Our only concern is “Are you a Mama?” “Do you want to take a more ethical path in your parenting?” “Do you want to share your experiences and views with other like minded parents?” A yes to those means the Mama Pack is for you!

Our members are more likely to have a home birth, breastfeed for more than 6 months, cloth nappy their children… more likely to use cloth sanitary protection or menstrual cups for themselves… more likely to co-sleep [stop gasping in the back there!] and much more likely to use a sling to carry their child. Our members are also more likely to either only eat organic animal products or be vegetarian….
Yes we do shave our legs and no we don’t have much time between hugging trees to create placenta art! ;-)

So there you have it…If our memebers don’t feel the need to share their personal info with us on the forum… then who are we to ‘tease’ it out of them for marketing purposes?

Now for some GREEN news!

Ever wondered what people want when they say ‘ethical’? Well so did we. So we asked our members on the Mama Pack forum and THIS is what they said.

According to the Ethical Consumerism Report 2009 people are spending triple the amount on ethical services and goods than they were ten years ago.

This is fantastic news and Mama Packs are delighted to be part of the education / awareness system bringing ethical and ethically influenced products to parents.
