What to expect…
If you hire a Doula what do you expect? what will she do and when? This depends on your Doula and the package you choose. Many Doulas will build a package for you, this not only gives you a personal service, this is important as it enables you to have the support you need at a time that is truely unique and personal to you but it also means that you get great value for money (and we all like the sound of that dont we
) I believe that all women deserve support and information to enable them to get the best possible experiance from her pregnancy and birth. As a member of Doula uk I have access to a Hardship Fund to help with the cost of a Doula and I am commited to keeping my fees as low as possible.

Birth Package.
A Birth Doula is a compassionate, loving woman who believes that childbirth is a normal part of life. I trust that the overwhelming majority of women in my care will be able to birth naturally. However, I will support every client in her choice of birth environment and mode of birthing.
I am one hundred percent committed to the expectant, labouring and new mother’s wellbeing and her physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual safety. I am independent of outside control and have no agenda other than to provide emotional care, information and skilled practical support.
I offer a free consultation to talk about my services further and answer any questions. This can take place in the comfort of your home or in a central location in Peterborough.
My birth doula package includes the following:
*Access to a number of books available for you to borrow.
*Two antenatal sessions when we will talk about previous birth experiences, Birth Physiology, and any other topics you would like to know more about. Each meeting lasts around 2 hours and extra meetings can be arranged.
*Telephone Consultations and contact via e-mail as much as is needed to answer any questions, concerns or queries. I will help you get the information you need!
*I will provide assistance in helping you decide on your birth preferences. This enables me to know what your wishes are for your birth so that I can be the best support for you and your partner.
*On call 24-hours from 10 days before your due date until your baby arrives. You can call me at any time during this period for reassurance and support. Should your baby decide to make an entry before this period I will do everything I can to attend your birth and support you.
*Continuous emotional & physical support during labour and birth. No time limits or shift changes! I will stay with you for around two hours after the birth or until you feel settled and happy for me to leave.
*One postnatal session and during this time I can assist with breast feeding, if need be, share together in the memories of your birth and admire your precious baby!
I am also available for consultation by phone and e-mail during the first six weeks after the birth.
Postnatal Package.
A Postnatal Doulais a non-judgmental woman with a quiet presence in your home.
I offer emotional and practical support following the birth of your baby. My work is all about empowering your family to take care of itself and I facilitate this by offering encouragement and suggestions as well as providing a supportive home environment to enable you as a mother to develop your own mothering skills in a relaxed, stress-free manner.
I have a wide knowledge of many different methods and philosophies on raising children and will use this information to help you discover how you want to do things. I am good at listening and always encourage mothers to develop their own philosophies.
I provide suggestions and help around infant feeding along with practical newborn tips. I will give you space to discuss any concerns and issues and I generally offer a source of information and companionship.
I am very flexible and my role is to support you and your partner with the day to day running of your household so that you can concentrate on getting to know your new baby.

Here is a list of some of the services I can provide (the package will be tailored made to meet your and your families needs)
*Helping to organize visitors in the early days, making tea and coffee for visitors, arranging flowers, cards etc
*Routine newborn care and guidance or education of the parents in bathing, nappy changing, calming techniques, sleeping patterns and newborn development.
*Household tasks including laundry, light housekeeping, grocery shopping and meal preparation.
*Care of older siblings.
*Accompany mother and baby to any appointments or shopping trips.
*Running errands.
