Ollies birth story- Homebirth – Mich
On the 26th feb i had a baby boy at 7:05am weighing 8lb 12.5oz. we have called him ollie isaac 
was having mild contractions from around midnihgtish on the 25th but wasnt sure, called the midwifes around 3 as they were every 10 mins then. I went in the bath with clary sage bubble bath from here and the mws arrived around 4ish. I stayed in the bath til i needed to pee and was at 5cm at 5:30 and then it all went very quick from there. Went back into the bath and within half an hr i started to need the g+a a bit and the mws said dont use too much too soon as we only have 2 cannisters. The mws were lovely and one of them massaged my back with oil for quite a while which felt brilliant, was the best thing i felt for the pain. At about 6 i felt myself pushing so i got out the bath and tried to lean on the birth ball on the bed but i couldnt balance as the pains were coming to frequent now and i was getting quite agitated and struggling with the pain now, had to be reminded to use the g+a and this is when i started shouting and sweraing and saying i couldnt do it ( i assume this is when transition hit lol) then i felt horrendous urge to push but the pain was horrible so i kept stopping. In the end i snapped myself together with the help of everyone calming me down and concentrated on pushing and breathing through the mouthpiece. Apperently my waters had half gone already by then but i dont remember them popping at all and i gave a big push and the rest of the waters popped followed by his head on the next contraction. Apperently i was shouting and swearing a lot more by then (god knows what the neighbours thought by there lovely wake up call lol) and
pushed his body out in the next 2 contractions.
The relief i felt when he came out was amazing and it seemed ages til i heard him cry, they cut his cord and handed him to me. I couldnt believe this huge boy came out of me and he was weighed, i was amazed by how big he was, more than a lb bigger than abbie and by far the biggest baby in our family. He then had a very long feed in which time the placenta came out and when he eventually stopped feeding, i was checked over and found to only have a tiny tear which didnt need stitching luckily and the mws then cleaned everything up before we called the girls down to meet there baby brother, abbie came down pointed at us and said momma, baby and then went on to play and megs came over and gave us a kiss and i think at that moment i felt more complete than i ever have, i am very glad to have had my homebirth and its an experience i will never forget.
