Articles by Louise

Louise left school at 18 and went to work for her local weekly broadsheet newspaper in a small market town in the North of England. Covering everything from cat shows to coroner's courts, she spent 11 years as journalist, sub-editor, features writer, agricultural correspondent and entertainments reviewer before decamping to the capital to work as a digital news producer. After two years looking after four websites, she returned home and became rural affairs specialist for a paper in the Yorkshire Dales before leaving it all behind after 20 years when her son James came along two years ago.

Rear facing – it’s the way forward

Would parents in the UK, if given the necessary information, be so quick to change their children to a forward facing car seat? This is the subject of today’s column and one which will, no …

Responsibilities – where do they lie?
May 9, 2010 – 9:59 pm | No Comment

Something someone said on another parenting forum has made me have a think. The discussion was on a trial at the Old Bailey involving an eight-year-old girl and two 10-year-old boys she’s accused of a …

Voting

I’ve been to vote. I’m not saying what shade I voted but lets just say it wasn’t towards the cooler end of the political spectrum. I find it really difficult to deal with the fact …

Musings

I was just thinking, as you do, why it is that some things become popular and other things languish by the wayside. Is it really because people like to follow the crowd? This week is …

Nappy addiction
