When I was a lass, I wasn’t slapped all over with sun cream, there was no factor 50, we were just plonked on the beach to bake. When I was a teenager, I wasn’t provided with sun cream, we just, yep you guessed – baked.
I don’t ever remember burning, even in the summer of 76; we just spent time out in the sun and enjoyed ourselves. Then the oils hit the market and everyone used the lowest factor oils to grab the best tan they could. Its only about 19 years ago when I gave birth to my first child that I became interested in sun protection – he was born with Jaundice and after spending a week in hospital under the lights, we were ...

It’s amazing to sit back and think that Mama Pack have been running long enough for us to be able to write a ‘History Of’ article!
In March 2000 Mama Pack founder Yzzy Howell set up a simple chat facility for parents she had met online, this quickly grew into a forum and then a website around the forum which she named Goddess Mums. Many of the mums on the forum made their own nappies, cloth san pro and clothing and liked the look of an E Store Yzzy had designed that sold her ring slings and Babymoon Pads – Mumzmall. So one by one Yzzy built stores for these people until the WAHMpire that is now known as www.wahm.co.uk was born where over 1500 Work ...

As a female who almost daily wears a traditional head covering I find it repulsive that anyone, anywhere could or would want to have control over my CHOICES.
I am half Czech, I spent a good deal of my early life living on a small holding with my family in the countryside of Moravia, in a village called Cejkovice. My main carer was my Grandmother who was born in 1927.
Moravia is oozing still now with tradition. Traditional costumes or Kroj, flamboyant churches and devout church goers, festivals that go on for days, weddings that last 4 days, wine making, baby swaddling and many more but one that I would like to highlight is headscarf wearing.
It is traditional for women in Moravia to wear a headscarf and ...

People are always asking us for demographics… there seems to be an obsession about them. Now ‘certain’ natal packs might feel it is their business to know how old their members are, where they work and how much they earn but we feel that is an intrusion… plus unlike ‘certain’ natal packs we don’t sell on members information…. So when you grab a Mama Pack you won’t suddenly get spam mail through the door for fifty thousand other ‘baby’ related businesses… Isn’t that good!?
So as far as demographics go we do know our members are mostly female, the age range is from the youngest Mama we know of who was 17 to the maturest Mama we know of who is 63!
Parity ranges from TTC [Trying ...

Just as a Mother and Father may need support and help in your own town, so too do many many parents and children across the world.
This is why in March 2010 we set up our monthly projects where we link together and raise funds to help those people in most need.
Below you will find our projects and a list of thanks accompanying them. If you feel you would like to help in this effort then please feel free to contact us! Or you can join in the chat on the forum regarding fund raising by clicking HERE.

Homebirth ~ Midwives views
Survey Compiled – December 2007
If you are considering a homebirth or maybe you are simply curious what the opinions of midwives is regarding this matter then we hope this gives you some insight. We asked Midwives from all over the UK a few questions that parents often wonder about…..
If you wish to take part in the Parents on Homebirth section then please email us for a form.
If you are wondering WHY we asked midwives these questions it is because in our experience these are the things that parents wanting to birth at home worry about. A lot of women feel they would like an unassisted homebirth because they feel the MW may interfere too much, well we can see from all ...

Taken from BBC Health News:
Expectant mums need to stop blaming their bump for memory lapses, say experts who want to dispel the “baby brain” myth.
Neither pregnancy nor motherhood addle a woman’s brain, say the researchers based on their study of 1,241 women both before and after having babies.
The Australian researchers say we have been misled by a fallacy.
Any absentmindedness might be adaptive, shifting attention to the baby, the British Journal of Psychiatry says.
Lead researcher Professor Christensen said: “Part of the problem is that pregnancy manuals tell women they are likely to experience memory and concentration problems – so women and their partners are primed to attribute any memory lapse to the ‘hard to miss’ physical sign of pregnancy. Full article can be read here.
