I did A level Law and one of the first things we were taught is that
'The legal system has to be just and BE SEEN to be just' Sad

Hopefully it's one of those things that has been lodged but isn't going to be successful.  Most stupid claims don't get paid out unless settled on insurance rolleye

Its wrong and everybody knows it, the justice system should not be in place for people like him.  If he does get the £100k I think it should be donated to the families of Jessica and Holly or the charity of their choice.

He should not see a single penny!

, the justice system should not be in place for people like him.

the justice system is in place for everyone.  And it always should be.  The person who slashed his throat should be punished for his action in the same way and as part of the same justice system that convicted him in the first place.

Although I think he's got a ruddy cheek and shouldn't get ANY moeny whatsoever, I agree wholeheartedly with Helen.  Justice should be for ALL.  Once 'they' start picking and choosing who deserves justice and who doesn't then its a steep slippery slope to anarchy.

I know what you mean and the law should apply to everyone BUT why should someone in prison for murdering two children be allowed to sue the prison service for a large sum of money like £100k.

I dont know what the answer is or should be but as a tax payer the thought of £1m in legal costs for this case astounds and infuriates me

I was cross about the money element not the fact he wants to see the prison service held to account for not managing their inmates properly Wink

All these sort of incidents do get investigated and policies/procedures re-written etc.
I'm surprised more attempts haven't been made on him. There are 2 things that galvanise prisoners together and that's hatred of peadophiles and child killers.

Yep I'm in agreement. The law cannot pick and choose, it is the LAW and it applies to everyone equally. Whatever he has done, and I agree it was horrendous, there was a lack of duty of care which resulted in his injuries. I doubt he will get a pay out however. If I remember rightly Peter Sutcliffe tried and failed for a similar incident.
