Parents spend ‘49 minutes’ a day with their children

National Family Week encourages families to spend more time together

Parents spend on average 49 minutes a day together with their children, according to a new survey

Of 3,000 parents surveyed 68% cited money as a barrier to spending more time with their family.

The study, which also asked the opinions of 1,000 children, was conducted ahead of National Family Week next week.

Of the children surveyed 66% were happy to spend time with their family at home rather than going out.

The study said: “Pound sign parents are blaming money for being the biggest obstacle to positive family life with 36% citing it as having a negative impact on family time.”

It says this is “rubbing off” on their children as more than a quarter of eight to 15-year-olds in the survey said money was the most important thing to them, putting cash in front of their health, education, sport or music  SOURCE BBC News

In reference to the ‘what would you like to see in Mama Packs?’ I would have liked to have had some advice and a sample of what to line my cloth nappies with. While I had already agreed to use cloth it wasn’t until my 4th nappy was ruined with meconium that I thought how on EARTH do you stop the poo from clinging to the nappy? I was then told “nappy liner” but then ended up with so many choices and types. So a leaflet with perhaps a disposable bio liner and a silk one etc wrapped in it would have been amazingly helpful.
By the way the Mama Pack was amazing!

Thank you Mya! I have added the option of nappy liner and changed your vote from ‘other’. Super suggestion!! I’m sure a nappy liner stockist or maker will read this and think OH YEAH!! :-)

What else would I like to see in the Mama’s pack? Actually, stuff for dads. There ought to be a dads’ pack equivalent. Stuff about sex after birth (or lack of!) would be good for a start.

Hello! We have a Fathers pack which we will be rolling out in Autumn of 2010! Sad thing is very few companies provide ethical, organic or natural products for men …. If you have any ideas let us know, or let the companies know we are looking!
